‘Grease’ Star Jeff Conaway Dead At 60

Caption Jeff Conaway in 1978 “Grease” star Jeff Conaway died Friday, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

According to Conaway’s spokesperson, the actor passed away on Friday morning at 10:30 AM PDT at a hospital in Encino, Calif., where he was surrounded by his family.

“We know his struggles against addiction are finally over,” the actor’s rep said in a statement to Access. “Jeff had legions of fans who loved him. Sometimes I wish he had known that.”

According to the rep, the actor was taken off life support on Thursday. He had been hospitalized in a coma since May 11.

Conaway’s “Grease” co-star John Travolta released a statement on Friday.

“Jeff Conaway was a wonderful and decent man and we will miss him,” Travolta said in a statement to Access. “My heartfelt thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this very difficult time.”

Conaway had struggled with addiction issues in recent years due to back problems and various surgeries. He candidly addressed his issue with addiction on VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” Season 1.

Conaway also played Bobby in TV’s “Taxi” from 1978 to 1982.
